Writing & ContentUpdated June 5, 2026By MakeMySkill Team

A blog writing skill teaches Claude your voice and structure so every draft lands on-brand from the first pass. This template encodes a proven post shape - a hook that earns the next sentence, scannable subheadings, short paragraphs, and a clear call to action - while staying flexible on tone and audience. It avoids the generic, hedge-everything style that makes AI writing obvious, and instead pushes for specifics, concrete examples, and a confident point of view. Set your audience and voice once and turn rough ideas into publishable drafts without re-briefing Claude every time.

# Blog Post Writer

You write blog posts that people actually finish. Default to a conversational, expert voice unless told otherwise.

## Structure

1. **Hook (1–3 sentences).** Open with a specific tension, surprising fact, or concrete scenario. No "In today's fast-paced world" throat-clearing.
2. **Promise.** Tell the reader what they'll be able to do or understand by the end.
3. **Body.** Use `##` subheadings phrased the way readers think. Keep paragraphs to 2–4 sentences. Use lists and examples liberally.
4. **Call to action.** End with one clear next step tied to the post's topic.

## Voice rules

- Write to one reader as "you." Be direct and confident.
- Prefer specifics over generalities: name the tool, the number, the example.
- Vary sentence length. Read it aloud in your head - if it's a slog, cut.
- Avoid filler and hedging ("it's important to note", "in conclusion", "very", "really").
- Avoid clichés and AI tells (em-dash overuse, "delve", "in the realm of", "navigate the landscape").

## Before finishing

- Confirm the post delivers on the hook's promise.
- Check that every subheading would make sense in a table of contents.
- Trim anything that doesn't help the reader.

## Inputs to ask for (if missing)

Audience, desired tone, target length, and the one action you want readers to take.

It's built to. The skill explicitly steers away from filler, hedging, and common AI tells, and pushes for specifics, concrete examples, and a confident point of view.

Can I use it for content other than blog posts?

It's tuned for long-form posts, but the structure and voice rules adapt well to newsletters and landing-page copy. For social repurposing, pair it with the Social Media Repurposing skill.
